Surface ships do not use weapons grade (~90% U235) uranium as fuel. It is around 10% U235 vs 3-5% for power company LWR reactors so the ships can go for years without refueling and then replace all the fuel at once.

recollection correct? I also know that the fuel in the SSNs is HEU.
Is that also true of the fuel in the surface ships? I suspect it is,
but I don't know for sure.
