I just read a book "Finding Darvin's God" by Kenneth Miller. It consists of two parts:
1) In the first part Miller provides a careful treatment of various arguments proposed by the ID and creationism camps.
-- he gives detailed evidence showing that arguments by the ID camps against the evolution theory are false
-- I have never before encountered a better treatment of this issue (I got the tip from a TPT micro review by John Hubitz, thanks!)
2) The second part is mainly devoted to discussing why Miller believes that religion and evolution are not contradictory to each other. (He admits that certain fundamental interpretations of Christianity cannot be reconciled with evolution.)
I would recommend this book (at least the first part) for anyone wondering why evolution is an accepted scientific theory whereas ID and various forms of creationism are not.
