NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY - Department of Physics

FACULTY POSITIONS:

The Department of Physics at NC State University foresees a period of growth
and is seeking highly qualified applicants for tenure-track and tenured
positions. Successful applicants will have strong commitments to excellence
in teaching and will be expected to establish a vigorous research program.
The Department has active and internationally recognized groups in
computational physics, condensed matter and materials physics (theoretical
and experimental), nuclear physics (theoretical and experimental), physics
education research, and theoretical astrophysics. Outstanding candidates in
these and other areas of physics (particularly biological physics, nanoscale
physics, and interdisciplinary research) are encouraged to apply. We plan to
hire primarily at the assistant professor level, but we will also consider
particularly qualified senior applicants. NC State University is one of the
vertices of the Research Triangle, the other two being the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, Durham. The Triangle is
also home to many industrial research campuses and numerous federal and
state research organizations. The quality of life in the Raleigh area has
consistently been acclaimed in national surveys. Candidates should send a

Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. degree in physics or
equivalent. In order to receive full consideration, applications for the
fall 2001 academic year should be received by Jan 31, 2001. Review of
