I've used "Measured Tones: The Interplay of Physics and Music," Ian
Johnson, (ISBN 0-85274-238-3) for many years, at the highschool and
undergraduate level. It should not be scary to non-science majors.
I would also suggest and use "Art and Physics: Parallel Visions in Space
Time and Light," Leonard Shlain, (ISBN 0688123058) These are not texts in
the traditional sense, but with some planning and creativity they can
serve as such. The best part is: the students will indeed read them and
that may be more than half the battle
