Re: Seeking intro text on musical acoustics

I think the good old "Scince and Music" by Sir James Jeans
will be less intimidating. But it is out of print I think.

Hello all,

This spring, I'm scheduled to teach a course for non-science majors
(in fact, science-phobes) on "the physics of music." I'm seeking
suggestions on texts. I've looked an (and am still considering) the
texts by Backus , Berg/Stork, and Rigden's. I've also looked at
texts by Hall , Benade and Rossing, though these would, I think, seem
intimidating to my students.

Are there other texts out there with which folks have had success?

Thanks in advance. Responses may me made off-list to:
