Re: [Phys-L] comment re $$$ Re: AI drawing tool for simple illustrations?

Another 'cheap' but very useful drawing package is Corel's Paint Shop Pro
(under $100--sometimes way under). This started life as a Parson's
drawing/painting program, got bought by Corel, morphed into a photo
manipulation program but has always retained the drawing software--even
improved it some. I have used the various versions over the decades for all
the software I wrote, including animations and reasonably visually complex
global energy simulations. The screen capture feature allows you to pretty
much grab a picture of just about any object you want from the internet and
isolate it for use in your physics apps. When I converted my interactive
animations to GIFs a few years ago, the ability to quickly process hundreds of
frames captured from the interactive and modify them for the Gifs was essential
(having 32 gigs of memory as well). Anyway the photo part of the software can
be useful as well. 😉

(Very early I actually wrote a drawing program in True Basic--worked pretty
well and actually won a prize from TB for it!)

Equivalent apps. are “bundled” in Apple machines — I suppose that’s one reason
why they are so expensive. I have the impression that they have reduced their
prices.

A BTW, I splurged and purchased the most expensive watch, because I received an
announcement that due to a legal problem Apple would stop selling two watches.
This was part of their graphs showing the popularities of various companies'
watches.

bc … has sub’d to very much too many publishers, especially substackers. And
wonders if gnumeric is related to all the gnu programs he used in the 80’s
plus. He even became very adept at text writing W/O a trackpad. And, of
course, can’t remember the name; the graphing program, also. He could go to
one of his many book shelves and pull out the CATS [1] pamphlet Unix for
Dummies.
