This reminds me of a friend who had a bee hive in his office (UCSB), and an acoustical spectrum analyzer, inter alia. (This was in the 60’s.) He claimed that bees communicate acoustically (piping) in addition to the dances of K. von Frisch. He was never able to publish [1] until KVF died, then Sci. Am. did.


bc … can’t remember his name, and collided W/him attempting the same parking space both going to the Unitarian college group beach party!
