I would say that physics is in the forefront, but other sciences are coming
along. Other sciences can easily hide behind a mass of memorized
information, but physics requires understanding of concepts. The Sadler
videos highlight problems in other sciences, and especially astronomy.

It you go to the Private universe site you can take a 5 question survey
about a topic in science. Ok, you know the answers, but after each answer
you are told what others thought, and if you register as a teacher you may
be amazed by how poorly other teachers did. Of course you have not
assurance that they were teachers because the status is self reported.

Some tome ago somebody posted a note which expressed surprise
that physics
was the only science which was doing much about educational
research, It
had a quote from a newspaper article and a couple of
responses. I deleted my
copies, wish I had not, and now cannot find the reference.
Would somebody
please refresh my memory and help me recover these e-mails.
