I live in Jersey, and this discussion has reminded me of the Yes song,
Roundabout (released in 1971). The song's cryptic lyrics came to lead
singer Jon Anderson while driving to the studio one early morning. The
first verse is:

I’ll be the roundabout
The words will make you out ’n’ out
I spend the day your way
Call it morning driving through the sound and
In and out the valley

The band is from Britain. I wonder what road Jon was on? :)

I remember my first experience on a moped in Freeport, Bahamas driving in a circle (roundabout in that country). Now, that was scary! Much scarier than any circle in Jersey!
