The rationalizations like in this case take me back to something Eugene
Hecht wrote in his (now out of print) 'liberal arts' text, "Physics in
Perspective".   ".....magic fails for magical reasons.  .......science fails
for scientific reasons."  and finally a quote from Demosthenes, "We believe
whatever we want to believe."
