Re: [Phys-l] Picking Thermo Book - Help requested

There is an online thermo and stat mech book available at
http://stp.clarku.edu/

This is a website devoted to thermo and stat mech being developed by
Jan Tobochnik and Harvey Gould who chaired the Gordon Conference on this
topic several years ago.

We are beginning the development of a website as a component of the
ComPADRE Pathway project (www.compadre.org) that will have a collection
of reviewed materials and resources similar to what is currently
available for Quantum Mechanics at http://www.compadre.org/quantum/ If
anyone on this list is interested in serving on an advisory committee
that would help review and recommend resources for this collection
please let me know.

I would like to second Krishna Chowdary's praise of Daniel Schroeder's

book. I'm using it for the third time this term. The text is
readable,
has good topics, good problems, etc. The solutions manual is also
pretty good. Finally, the size is about right (not too long, not too
brief) and the price is reasonable.
