Which Strong is late"? Was: Re: Stone skipping. Was: Re: bending of object thrown into pool

Not certain, but don't think so. John was at Cal Tech (Author of
Procedures in Exptl. Phys. and Classical Optics, both fine books that I
have.) C. L. hosted the Amateur Scientist (Sci. Am) for some time. On
retirement it decayed 'till Shawn Carlson revived it. Then Sci. Am went
East and the mag. as a whole decayed along w/ Carlson's forced retirement.

p.s. in searching (Google) for the deaths? of C. L. and John Strong, I
found a very disturbing article about Forest Mim's contretemps w/
Scientific American. Because it relates to topics discussed in Phys-L,
I intend to comment on it w/ its link soon.

Some time ago (fifties or sixties?) Sci. Am. had an article
on stone skipping, including I think, on sand.

I found it: Yes (sand) August 68 [C. L. Strong]
Koths used the "Edgerton" method.

That would be the late, lamented Professor Stong, I expect.
