With any luck we should know if a TEV unification scale is correct when the
LHC at CERN fires up around (hopefully) 2006. Dr. T. Hooft is a private email
was kind enough to share his views on this a few years ago when the this idea
was hot news. It's his opinion that there is no way to make this idea mesh with
"established" supernova physics. The large scale dimensions he felt would
cause supernovas to fizzle. The authors of the ADD theory, as it is called, do
address this issue in their paper. It's their view that by carefully
constraining the parameters of this theory it's possibly to answer the objections that
Dr. T. Hooft makes.
As every one no doubt knows Dr. T. Hooft is the Co-discoverer of the
Holographic principle. This idea suggest a Planck scale quantization of space
time.
