It's the leaves in the E + I type transformer core most likely. The
interesting bit is that as the cap. charges the current lessens.
Evidently the characteristic of the oscillator is that with less load
its freq. increases. Perhaps for the same reason as a gas tube
relaxation osc. does?

light bulb fill. driven by AC in a mag field oscillates (or DC w/ ac mag
field) -- party bulb????
