[Bill Nettles] That all depends on the fitting function you choose (how many hypotheses you're testing?): pure power function where even the exponent is fit, forced square root, directly proportional, sum of sqrt and proportional, A(1-exp(-km)), etc. Also, how flat or curved do you make the filters. More interesting, what is the limiting speed with "huge number" of filters? Does it approach sqrt(2gh)? Also interesting is to drop the filters from a fixed height above a motion sensor and investigate the distance of fall until terminal velocity is reached (talk about fuzzy data!!) versus # of filters (filter mass).
