Re: CONSERVATION OF ENERGY

I did not want to be dragged into a discussion whose purpose is to formulate
the first law of thermodynamics. I want to know how to answer two qualitative
questions about energy. Why is it misleading to say that "energy is the
ability to do work" and why is wrong to say that work (or transfer of
internal energy, dU, due to dT) is "at the expense of some form of energy;
kinetic energy in our specific situation.

Please help; do not allow this debate to generate into a prolonque dialog.
This is not healthy (I ment to degenerate).

P.S. Sorry for introducing a synonyme, random energy, for thermal energy.
