Can you elaborate? What's wrong with time sequences? (SR affects not
withstanding) More importantly, what is wrong with the idea of cause and
effect? In my mind that is what science is all about, the belief in cause
and effect, i.e. causes precede their effects. If this is not the case the
universe is basically not understandable.

One can argue that the customary process is:
1) An observation
2) A generalization or model from which consequences or predictions can be made.
3) A controlled experiment or further observation.

This is a deductive method. We are at liberty to choose the simplest model
which provides the desired predictions. It is (usually) not necessary to
define an absolute
cause. If it is unnecessary to define a cause, why invite hecklers ( like
me) by assigning one?
