Corn is very poorly efficient, besides using much needed water, polluting, and displacing food.
The numbers:
at the vehicle:
electric 60%, ice 30%
solar conversion:
corn 1%!, solar panel 20%
Carnot engines (nat. gas, coal) ~ 30%. W/combined cycle . ~ 60%
