The PHET simulators relevant to that topic seem to be java programs and I seem to recall there being a security issue with java. I don't really want to ask the students to install a java runtime environment on their computers and I'm not sure it is an option for all of them.


You might find our spectroscopy programs helpful. Spectroscopy Lab Suite covers creating energy level models in the the visible spectrum for a variety of light emitting devices, Hydrogen Spectroscopy is just hydrogen but includes IR and UV. Both programs are stand alone (no Java needed) and can be downloaded from https://www.phys.ksu.edu/ksuper/research/vqm/software/. Unfortunately, the on-line versions are no longer compatible with contemporary browsers. But the downloadable versions run on both Windows and Macs.
