Where's That From?

since that reworked the temperature data and made the 'little ice age' and
medieval warm periods apparently go away.

Other than conservapedia.com and a couple of random blogs, I
can't find out anything about this. And one of the blogs seems
uncertain. Maybe there's some other source, but it must be on
a dog-whistle frequency I can't hear.

Conservapedia says
"Mann has refused to admit any guilt for perpetrating the hoax"
http://conservapedia.com/Hockey_Stick

That must be the understatement of the year, because as of
a few months ago, Michael Mann was talking in terms of an
entire hockey team. According to the "other" wiki,
"More than two dozen reconstructions, using various
statistical methods and combinations of proxy records,
support the broad consensus shown in the original hockey
stick graph...."

medieval warm periods

That issue "went away" a long time ago. The so-called medieval
warm period was not global at all; it was pretty much confined
to the North Atlantic and nearby lands. The /global/ temperature
during this period might have been a scoche /cooler/ than average.

Somebody should tell Faux News that the hockey stick graph
has been withdrawn. They will probably wet their pants
from the excitement. They can cite conservapedia.com and
phys-l.org as their sources.

========================

This is all part of a time-worn pattern:
Some the kooks and the liars find some /regional/ data that
doesn't fit the global trend, and OMG it's a scandal.

Well, guess what, different regions have different climates.
This brings new meaning to the word "duh".

Climate change affects different regions differently. Some
regions are going to see extreme drought, while other regions
are going to see extreme flooding. This is not a contradiction,
not a hoax, and not a scandal. It's called regional differences.
It is well explained and indeed predicted by the models. You
