Re: [Phys-L] Electric Field Line Drawing Program

Don,
Usually that "administrative priveledges" means that neither you nor anyone but the specific computer owner can add anything to the computer. In my office its my colleague who sets up all of the software on the network computers. If your computer is a "community" computer (I notice you're at a community college), then the purpose is to keep the computers from getting clogged up with everybody's junk programs. You can probably insist that you need a specific software added, and the administrator will likely install it FOR YOU. Karl

You can install them on your computer or run them online."

Yes, thanks. The one you mention does look useful. The Charges2000 program
draws higher resolution field lines which are nicer looking and more
suitable for display but requires, on Windows computers "administrative
privileges" which is a problem for me on campus. The PhET program is more
user friendly, flexible and will run on campus without special privileges.
However, the plots are quite coarse.
