Messing with Gaia is inevitable.
Trying to understand Gaia and all this other stuff is the task/fun of science.
The only way to stop messing with Gaia is to annihilate ourselves via some relatively nondestructive disease or such.
(Doesn't sound like a 'viable' option to me)
