The FCI has NOTHING to do with 'solving problems' at least not those of a numerical nature.

For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with the instrument - I strongly suggest that you get access to the (protected) test questions.

It definitely DOES test newtonian concepts versus aristotilian concepts.

I suspect that there are many computational whizzes in the world who would not do well on it (at least not as well as we would like).


(Someone on the list is probably willing to send the info to individuals who want to view (and protect) the questions.)

I think that Eric Mazur's book includes the test.
