Is there on record an earlier educational war than the one won, temporally, using hemlock? In Cuneiform or Linear B, perhaps; how about in Lascaux?

I remember, back in the early fifties, a right wing radio ham railing* about the progressive ed. instituted by the Santa Barbara (CA) Board of Ed.
