Re: [Phys-l] Ham Tests (was Capacitance problem)

They don't require code anymore to get a ham license? Talk about civilization crumbling!

That's interesting -- when I became W6TFE, I only got the technician
(no xtra at that time), as I didn't need the general (only interested
in the microwave spectrum). It required, IIRC, seven WPM Morse, the
gen. 15?

bc still interested in microwaves, but let it lapse long time ago.

There are three popular web sites for taking practise tests.
Here they are:
http://www.qrz.com/testing.html
http://www.aa9pw.com/
http://www.eham.net/exams/

You can select from the three tests currently available -
Tech, General, Extra which need to be passed sequentially
at the local test centers set up for the purpose.
Ham test passes lapse after ten years if not renewed.

Moon bounce, spread spectrum, and wildlife/resource telemetry
are topics that might also appeal?

Apropos electric circuits, I notice that the Amateur radio tests no
longer necessitate learning Morse, and as you may know, there never
was an age limit. One of these tests might be a suitable objective
for young people - there are three: technician, General and Extra.

Brian Whatcott Altus OK Eureka!
