Hi --
I added a new section to my discussion of Fourier transforms
http://www.av8n.com/physics/fourier-refined.htm#sec-spreadsheet
This discusses some spreadsheets
http://www.av8n.com/physics/fourier-demo.xls
http://www.av8n.com/physics/fourier-demo-hi.xls
that implement a Fourier transform directly -- not via FFT,
not via any canned transformation routine -- so you can see
all the steps involved.
There is value in seeing all the steps ... and there are
many students who are willing to work with spreadsheets
but are have a phobia about traditional computer languages.
Also: an older part of this document talks about the
oft-underappreciated need to increase the resolution of
Fourier transforms.

What do you call a Crax rubra from Willemstad?
