Please justify this expectation. Let us assume, for the sake argument, 
that pairs of deuterium nuclei, trapped in a palladium cathode, 
occasionally transmute into helium, as claimed by some cold fusion 
researchers. Such transmutations would indeed release thermal energy 
into the lattice.
