I think this position might lead to difficulty in the case I
described of a clock moving toward you at high speed. In that case
the clock APPEARS to run fast, but we MEASURE it to run slow.

This is a splendid assertion to make.
One translates it to this...
The clock properties which we measure as fast,
are evidence for a fast clock.
The clock properties which we measure as slow,
are evidence for a slow clock.

Clock properties which we then insert into a worldview,
are grist for a philosophical, or at best, theoretical position.
