I recall showing a movie in which John Shive demonstrated wave phenomena
using his torsional wave
machine. In particular, I remember the excellent demonstration of
impedance matching. I was never as impressed with live demonstrations of
the wave machine as with those in his movie. I believe he considers
analogies with other types of waves. The last time I saw the movie was
in 1976. I believe the movie was produced by Bell Telephone
Laboratories. I don't know if it is still available in some format.
