Here's an anecdote intended to show that most homes - at least in
the Southern tier may become if not Green, at the least somewhat
queasy-colored.

Locate the cold feed water pipe to your water heater, gas or electrical.
Replace the pipe end with a tee and stop cock on the side branch,
an in line stop cock, and a second tee with a stop cock in the side branch.

Take the two side branches to a pipe on a southern wall of the house
and array the longest length available to Sunlight.
Cost $40 plus Professorial labor to drill two holes in masonry and
hang garden hose or etc.,. Payback? Possibly 11 months....
..if you have folks who shower each day in warm water.
