Short sighted attitude to compare operating costs against the
annual balance sheet?
Arguably, the go-ahead faculty who re-specify text books
yearly are providing valuable insights in how to run an American
business enterprise for the students who find ways to cut those
costs, I'd think....

Shouldn't they also be thinking about out-sourcing the text provisioning,
altogether? perhaps even off-shoring it?

How much would it cost per unit to have a hand written text produced,
with judicious improvements to avoid copy right issues, say?
I suspect an Indian source of supply could be found who might
provide a superior, cost effective product. The benefits to the off-shore
economies would be profound, I speculate. $125 would be some months
of wages in those parts.
