Open Access Journals

An interesting academic resource has been brought to my attention: the
Directory of Open Access Journals at <http://www.doaj.org/>, hosted by
Lund University Libraries in Sweden. I'm passing along the information
to you in hopes that some of you will find it interesting and perhaps
valuable.

Homepage introductory message in its entirety: "Welcome to the Directory
of Open Access Journals. This service covers free, full text, quality
controlled scientific and scholarly journals. We aim to cover all
subjects and languages. There are now 694 journals in the directory."

A huge amount of OA info is available by clicking "About", "Questions &
Answers" and "Other Ways to OA". There's some fascinating stuff about
metadata harvesting using the well-established Open Access Initiative
protocol, with which some of you are likely familiar.

DOAJ has a pdg article index search engine, and full text metadata
search capability should be complete by summer. A search today using
just the keyword "physics" brought up 29 hits including the following
online journals:

Acta Physica Polonica B
Advances in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics
Brazilian Journal of Physics
Condensed Matter Physics
Fizika A (Zagreb)
Fizika B (Zagreb)
Chinese Journal of Physics
Mathematical Physics Electronic Journal
Journal of Physical Studies
Living Reviews in Relativity
New Journal of Physics
Physics-Uspekhi-On-line
Pramana : Journal of Physics
Acoustics Research Letters Online
Physical Review Special Topics - Accelerators and Beams
Optics Express
Apeiron (Montreal): studies in infinite nature
International Journal of Molecular Sciences
Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics
High Energy Physics Libraries Webzine
Materials Physics and Mechanics
Reviews on Advanced Materials Science
Nordic Journal of Building Physics: acta physica aedificiorum

Best wishes,

Larry
