AQuestion About the Space and its Background

Hello Physlers,
I am trying to get a basic idea of the idea of looking outward in space and seeing the background radiation. Since it is coming from the surface of last scattering, how come we continue to see it forever? For instance, the light that is coming to us at this instant quickly passes by but is followed by more light from the same surface. It seems as though there is an infinite supply of light. Also, how fast is the universe expanding? Is it expanding at the speed of light, the light from this surface of last scattering? Thanks for your insights.
