Fusion is the transition from a liquid to a solid. The counterpart t=
o "fusion" is "melting". (I can't think of any synonym for "melting"=
that ends in "ion".) Also, I prefer the term "desublimation" to "de=
position". Thus, I would list the phase transitions as follows:
vaporization - condensation
sublimation - desublimation
melting - fusion

If "heat of fusion" is the energy involved in the melting/freezing
process, what is the missing term below?
vaporization - condensation
sublimation - deposition
fusion - ??
And, if vaporization refers to the liquid to vapor transition and
sublimation refers to the solid to vapor transition does "fusion"
refer to the solid to liquid transition?
