Lilly Teaching Fellow in Physics at Wabash College

WABASH COLLEGE LILLY TEACHING FELLOW IN PHYSICS Applications are
invited for a 1-year visiting appointment (with the possibility of a
1-year extension) as a Lilly Teaching Fellow in Physics beginning
July 1, 2003. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment
to excellent and innovative teaching and scholarship in an
undergraduate liberal arts environment. This appointment, which
includes release time to participate in projects involving Wabash
College's Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts
(www.liberalarts.wabash.edu/), is designed for a new Ph.D. preparing
to teach at a liberal arts college or a person who wishes to develop
new teaching methods applicable to a liberal arts setting. Interest
in developing and teaching introductory courses for science and
non-science majors, including astronomy, is required. Research with
undergraduates is encouraged, but not required. Wabash College is a
highly selective four-year liberal arts college for men with a
student body of approximately 850. This is an exciting time for the
Physics Department, which is currently upgrading all of its
demonstration and laboratory equipment, revising its curriculum, and
making plans to move into new facilities
(www.wabash.edu/depart/physics/). Applicants should send a letter of
application, vitae, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a
statement of teaching plans and philosophy (including research with
students, if appropriate) specifically directed toward the liberal
arts environment, and three recent letters of recommendation to
Dennis Krause, Chair, Physics Dept., Wabash College, P.O. Box 352,
Crawfordsville, IN 47933-0352. The review of applications will
begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Women and members of minority groups are encouraged to apply. EOE.
