And the rules in these areas are:

1) Follow your intuition.
2) Try it, if it works then OK, if not then
click on something else.
3) Do not try to memorize, the interface
is likely to be different in the next
version of this or that software.
4) Do not try to understand what is
"under the hood;" it is only a tool.

The rules in my upbringing were very different:

1) Think before doing.
2) Do not turn anything on without knowing
ahead of time what will happen. Mistakes
can be costly and dangerous.
3) What you learn will be useful to you in the
future. For example, geometry, or how to
draw pictures with a pencil.
4) Understanding things is important.
Cogitation is the essence of existence.
