I'm having a hard time figuring what physical mechanism might make
the speed double. I want to say this is bogus, despite the highway
patrol (see text and video) obviously taking it as fact... it if was
true, there should be an obvious kinetic energy principle behind it,
but I see none.

What on Earth, was this discussion thread all about?
What was this supposed speed doubling?
Could it possibly refer to a tractor trailer doing 55 in a 35 mph zone?
It's called 'jamming' - happens all the time - when the driver has been
driving 18 hours even - and that's illegal too.

Truck wheels are big and heavy - they can pull off, they can run on
if the trailer was swinging at the time, and they can bounce up and land
in someone's frontage.
I just don't see the mystery.
