Want to move back to the city? Can't do it. It is a "one-way" proposition.
And, in my opinion this is the biggest problem when comparing salaries from
one part of the country to another.

We may live in "God's country," etc. as someone suggests, but to move to the
city means we will sell our 100K house and try to move to where houses
similar will be 250K (or more). Can't do it.

However, going the other way works swell. In fact I know a number of people
who have lived in the city, and retired to our area. They have a difficult
time buying (or building) a house big enough to use up the money they
received, without paying half of it to uncle Sam, when they sold their house
in the city.
