arch


Kansas State University


The Physics Education Research Group at Kansas State University seeks=
to appoint one to possibly three Postdoctoral Research Associates to=
begin no later than September 2002. The primary focus of these posit=
ions is on research and development related to students' mental model=
s in physics and their applications in various contexts. The researc=
h associates will be expected to investigate student learning, develo=
p new materials, work closely with teachers who test the materials, a=
nd present workshops at national meetings. Important components of th=
e program are the development of new research techniques, investigati=
ng the transfer knowledge, the appropriate use of digital technologie=
s, and collaboration with other physics education groups in the U.S. =

The successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in physics or science edu=
cation. A Ph.D. in physics with a dissertation related to physics tea=
ching/learning is preferred. Candidates with Ph.D.s in other areas of=
physics and with significant background in teaching and/or education=
al research will be considered.=20
