Look for a book by Michael Crowe at the University of Notre Dame. It is
a thorough history of the ideas of extraterrrestial life.

Yeah. I did a Google search on "inhabited planets history" and a few
others. I visited several sites -- including the one cited above -- but
found none with commentary before 1800.

I was hoping to see that at least by the time of Tycho Brahe there might
have been speculation re inhabited planets.

It would be very helpful to have a citation re Roman times or Babylonian
times.
