Re: Green on medical training

I find it oddly worrisome that we can make such sweeping
generalizations as made about medical training programs and
practitioners by Mr Green. In the same digest issue I found
the raging debate on divinity versus astrology degrees.
There has to be some quite back alley chat room for this
conversation to continue in. Let's do physics, something we
know about through training and study.

arm makes it easier for the body to seal the still open
wound. While I've
never asked the nurse for an explanation of the physics
involved, she
clearly knew what worked best to stop the bleeding in the
shortest time.

What is more likely is that the question of "Why?" never
came up in the
nursing training and the nurse never asked or cared, She
was just
mechanically doing what she was shown in that training.
Learning to doctor
ain't much more insightful.
