I would like to ask for improving comments on my following explanation of
capillarity vs cohesiveness :
Capillarity is determined by the result of the competition of the
cohesiveness of the liquid molecules versus their adhesiveness to the solid
wall molecules.
If the adhesiveness wins, the liquid will 'wet' the solid wall, and the
liquid will creep up the wall.
My problem is : Is cohesiveness/adhesiveness strongly related to polarity
of molecules, or what else?
