In so far as it is true too that some current flows through the air,
or through an electroscope etc., I agree with the above.

It is not necessary for ANY current to flow through the insulated gate
of a FET for the electric field to modulate the current flow through
the device.

By contrast with the 1E10 Ohms input resistance available from the igFET,
the junction FET is expected to show higher input conductance.
