Ludwik, I'm sure you know this already, but it is worth emphasis. You
don't have to use the SI system with its associated constants, but you
need to be careful about what the force laws are in your new system.
For example, in the SI system and in the Gaussian system, B is a
different vector in more than units. Evidence for the fact can be found
in the force laws: F = q(v x B) (SI) and F = q(v/c x B)
(Gaussian). In the Gaussian system the magnetic field has the same
dimensions as the electric field (N/C) whereas in the SI system and
dimension of the magnetic field and the electric field are very
