Re: WebAssign

Does anyone have experience using web-based homework software systems
such as WebAssign? They have an ad in the March edition of TPT and demo
sites at <webassign.net> for students, and <webassign.net/faculty.html>
for faculty. Use demo for the username, institution, and password. I
would like some feedback from anyone who has used this or other such
services. Thanks. John Crookston Forest Hills High School Sidman, PA

John,

We've used a home-grown system of this sort called Classweb
(http://class.physics.ucsb.edu/), and I think it's indispensable! It's a
wonderful tool for implementing "Just-in-Time Teaching"
(http://webphysics.iupui.edu/jitt/jitt.html), which enables us to see
inside our student's minds in ways that would heretofore have been
impossible. I'd encourage you to give WebAssign a try.

Cheers,
Roger Freedman
