.As the department's evaluator of physics courses being transferred in from
other institutions, I've learned that many foreign students had no official
textbook in their calculus-level introductory courses. They could choose
any text they wanted. Homework assignments came from the instructors
instead of the textbooks.
Do any of you teach physics without an official textbook? Right now, I
know of only one person who does that, but perhaps there are many. I may
do this next spring.
