Re: Autosketch and Mathtype

In reply to Ed's comments about Autosketch, I too used to be completely
sold on it, and used it almost exclusively, despite a few annoying
characteristics, especially with respect to line widths. However since
I've been using PowerPoint97 extensively, I have to say that the drawing
facilities in it are so convenient and versatile that I rarely dust off
Autosketch any more, though sometimes I still use its libraries of
electronics symbols. Although it looks as if drawing in PowerPoint is
the same as in Word, it is actually better, and pictures stay put where
you want them to, and you can save the result as a gif. (To do this, you
'group' the drawing, then 'Save as html', and it will produce a gif for
you.)

I use Mathtype and Equation Editor (depending on which computer I am
on). Mathtype is more powerful, though I must admit that I haven't taken
the time to learn its full potential yet. Yes, you can save equations as
gifs from it too, and put them straight into your web page. (There are
also a certain number of maths symbols that you can embed in html
without needing to use gifs, if you know the right codes to use, but
that's not useful for whole equations.)

Cheers
Margaret
