Re: Rudolf Gottlieb

O.K., I confess. I was treating your question as a scavenger hunt. I had
no idea who Rudolf Gotlieb (OR Gottlieb) was so I stuck the name into Alta
Vista and was directed to

http://www.gospelcom.net/cccu/journals/csr/padgett.html

where I found the following

"... The Second Law owes it origins to the work of Rudolf Gottlieb, a
German physicist born in 1822, universally known as Clausius."

Since the information matched your general interests so closely I figured
I had won, but I have no idea if it is authoritative. Sorry.

Damn, John, I thought I was going to have to pry this out of the list!!! I
have tried to do so previously without success. What I really want to have
is a reference to this -- I can't find one anywhere. Some sort of
background as to why he changed his name thus -- other than teenage
arrogance I hope. Any citation would be helpful.
