I'll send the web link again. I know very little about the process. I
looked into it a few years ago before they even had adolescent science as
a possible certification. At that time the cost was $2000 and you had to
jump through a bunch of hoops in keeping a portfolio of your teaching,
getting video tapes of your lessons, providing curriculum etc. The hoops
made getting my masters degree seem easy. A few people here in Minnesota
have done it because some districts offer a financial incentive for
getting certified. A $5000/year bonus might get me interested again but
the best offer I've seen in Minnesota is a one time payment of $3000.


In St. Paul, National Board Certified teachers get a $2000 annual stipend.
The district also pays some fraction of the certification costs.
Consequently, we are getting to have quite a few people who have jumped
through the hoops.
