Re: Usenet -- Off topic

Jim,

You REALLY need to learn how to use the search capabilities of your Web
Browser. InfoSeek and a search using +"public newsservers" yielded a number
of hits. The one below seems to be pretty complete.

http://www.networld.it/crc/InfoNet/elenco%20news.htm

Once you choose a newsserver (for example msnews.microsoft.com -- for
newsgroups about every conceivable product and service provided by
Micro$oft) you must then configure your newsreader--Outlook Express for
example. In OE, you go to tools|accounts|news|add and then follow the
directions. I think Navigator has a similar feature.

Good friends and gurus,

Aren't there somewhere public USENET (newsgroups) servers somewhere for the
impoverished academics who's institution is to timid to provide their own
server????

Any suggestion as to how to find such a server would be greatly appreciated
by the deprived faculty at the local college.
